The launch of an online column on the official website of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council for reporting malicious acts of "Taiwan independence" henchmen and accomplices persecuting Taiwan compatriots is grounded in solid legal principles and sufficient legal justification, and the column has received over 3,000 tip-off emails to date with detailed content, Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday, responding to claims by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities that the mainland has "no jurisdiction" over the island of Taiwan.

At Wednesday's press conference, Zhu reiterated that Taiwan is a part of China, and the country will never allow "Taiwan independence" separatist forces to split the island from China under any name or in any form. For those stubborn "Taiwan independence" elements who violate the law, regardless of their location, the country's law enforcement and judicial authorities will pursue them regardless of location and impose severe penalties according to the law.

Regarding certain "Taiwan independence" organizations, individuals, civil servants and internet celebrities who act as agents and accomplices for the DPP authorities to threaten, intimidate, and suppress political opponents, as well as parties, groups, and individuals on the island who support peaceful development of cross-Straits relations, we will not turn a blind eye. We have both the legal and moral right to take actions, Zhu said.

The launch of the online column for reporting malicious acts of "Taiwan independence" henchmen and accomplices persecuting Taiwan compatriots is a just response to calls from people on both sides of the Straits to punish separatist acts and a necessary step to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Taiwan compatriots, Zhu stated.

When responding to a press reporter's inquiry about the current status of the tip-offs emails received since the launch of the column, as well as how they would be handled, Zhu said at the press conference that since the column was launched, it has received widespread support, with over 3,000 tip-offs submitted, reflecting the strong resentment of people on both sides of the Straits toward the misdeeds of "Taiwan independence" agents and accomplices.

Zhu stated that the authorities will adhere to factual evidence and legal standards, and after verifying the relevant reports, will hold these agents and accomplices accountable and impose legal penalties as warranted.
